Barbara Scott Nelson

BIO:
Dr. Barbara Scott Nelson is Senior Scientist and Director of the Center for the Development of Teaching. Her current research focuses on school and district administrators' practical judgment; in particular, how administrators' ideas about the nature of mathematics, learning, and teaching, affect their administrative practice. This body of work has resulted in the development of instructional materials about instructional leadership in mathematics education for school and district administrators: Lenses on Learning: A New Focus on Mathematics and School Leadership; and Lenses on Learning: Classroom Observation and Teacher Supervision in Elementary Mathematics. In addition, Dr. Nelson has edited a number of books on professional development for teachers in elementary mathematics, and has published a number of articles on administrator learning and instructional leadership.
